Happy Worker Inc. is looking for a Jack or Jill of all Trades to help with customer service, project support, and all the odd-ball tasks that go into keeping a busy office running smoothly. We’re looking for a very special person who’s a born happy worker and self-starter with a professional-yet-fun attitude.

“Regular” Duties

Happy Worker is a small entrepreneurial team... there’s more to do than we have time for! The new teammate will lighten the team’s workload and tackle under-supported areas of our business, so that Happy Worker can expand with our growing client base, bring more toys to life, and spread more happiness.

The new teammate will be responsible for: 

  • (30%) Customer Service + Sales (aka Client Happiness): Respond to custom toymaking inquiries by e-mail and phone, answer toymaking questions, build proposal documents, and prepare quotes
  • (30%) Client Support: Prepare and update toymaking schedules, track toy specifications and project details, and create client-friendly documents
  • (30%) Office Admin: Greet office visitors (as our official receptionist), answer phones, send out shipments, order supplies, help with office organization, cleaning, and garbage disposal, find solutions to project challenges
  • (5%) Web, Blog + Social Media: Write content, take photos, and post on the Happy Worker website, blog, and social media platforms
  • (5%) Marketing: Research prospective clients and contact companies we’d like to work with
  • (As they pop up!) Various Odd Tasks: Miscellaneous things that arise that may not always be the most fun, but will build character and/or increase chest hair growth J
  • (Always) Happiness: Bring fun & happiness to all that you do!

Must-Have Experience + Talents

To be considered applicants must show that they have:

  • Plenty of Work Experience: We’d appreciate seeing a resume that lists all of your previous work experiences – not just the recent positions or the ones you feel relate most to this role
  • Schooling: A post-secondary degree or diploma
  • Communication Skills: Above-average writing and speaking skills in English; A confident speaker, detail-oriented writer, and expert at conveying personality through writing and speaking
  • Tech Savviness + Typing: Please tell us about your tech skills in your cover letter
  • Organizational Skills: Experience keeping track of more details and digital data than the brain can handle
  • Multitasking Ability: A quick worker who’s practiced at handling lots of to-dos, without dropping any balls
  • Comfort in Fast-paced Environments: Please tell us about your busiest work experience in your cover letter
  • A Love of Customer Service: Lots of experience helping customers and enjoying it
  • Working Math Skills: For example, cross multiplying, calculating volume, and calculating costs in Excel

More About the Role

  • Employment Type: This is a full time, permanent position.
  • Location: Toronto, Ontario. The Happy Worker HQ is downtown, at Richmond + Spadina. Our office is small, open-concept, and a little crazy.
  • Start Date: The successful new team member may begin immediately, or within a couple weeks of being hired.
  • Starting Salary + Compensation: $34,000 - $36,000 depending on experience; Growth opportunities and benefits will be provided after one year.
  • Office Hours: 9am – 6pm (or sometimes later) Monday to Friday. Servicing our clients well and keeping projects on-schedule often means some evening and weekend work. 
  • Reporting Happy Worker: The new team mate will report to Heidi Peckover, Head of Client Happiness
  • Role Evolution: After the first year the Happy Doer of all Things can specialize in an area of the business where the individual shows passion and ability, if desired.
